Editor's pick: The Pickle Island
The Pickle Island runs the most recognizable network of pickleball courts in Sri Lanka. Three locations across Colombo and the eastern suburbs, a consistent quality standard, and a brand strong enough that most people in the local pickleball scene know it by name.
Each branch has its own character. The Arcade location sits inside one of Colombo's best-known lifestyle destinations. The Excel branch is the newest and most centrally placed for late-night sessions in Colombo 10. Battaramulla covers the eastern suburbs with three courts and a midnight closing time.
All three branches share the same booking number: 077 886 0812.
The Pickle Island · Arcade Independence
- Location: Arcade, Independence Square, Colombo 07
- Price: LKR 4,000 per hour
- Hours: Daily until 11 PM
- Rating: 4.5 stars (31 reviews)
- Best for: Casual players, first-timers, social games

The Arcade Independence Square location is where a lot of people in Colombo play pickleball for the first time. The setting helps. Independence Square is one of the city's landmarks, and the Arcade attached to it draws a mixed crowd of office workers, weekend visitors, and sports enthusiasts. Playing here feels like part of a broader lifestyle destination rather than a detour to a random side street.
The court holds a 4.5-star rating across 31 reviews, which reflects a venue that delivers reliably without anything feeling off. Parking is available in the Arcade complex, the area is well-lit, and it is one of the more accessible locations in Colombo 07 by car or three-wheeler.
At LKR 4,000 per hour, it sits comfortably in the mid-range for the city. Call 077 886 0812 or book through PlayBook.
The Pickle Island · Excel
- Location: 338 T. B. Jayah Mawatha, Colombo 10
- Price: LKR 7,000 per hour (4 to 6 players)
- Hours: Daily, 9 AM to 12 AM
- Rating: 5.0 stars (5 reviews)
- Best for: Groups, central Colombo access, late-night sessions

The Excel branch is the newest Pickle Island location and currently holds a perfect 5.0 rating. Review volume is still building, but the scores suggest the launch went well. The pricing model is slightly different from the other branches: LKR 7,000 per hour for a group of four to six players, which works out to a reasonable per-person cost when you come with a full group.
T. B. Jayah Mawatha sits in the heart of Colombo 10, making it genuinely central for anyone coming from the north or east of the city. Hours run until midnight, which gives you proper flexibility on weeknights when you cannot get away until late.
Call 077 886 0812 or book through PlayBook.
The Pickle Island · Battaramulla
- Location: 260/1 Battaramulla-Pannipitiya Road
- Price: LKR 4,500 per hour
- Hours: Daily until 12 AM
- Courts: 3 dedicated courts
- Rating: 5.0 stars
- Best for: East Colombo residents, groups, late-night play

Battaramulla fills a gap that was obvious to anyone living east of the city. Before this venue opened, players in Battaramulla, Rajagiriya, or Kotte had to make the full drive into central Colombo to find a court. Now they do not.
Three courts, a 5.0 rating, and a midnight closing time puts this branch among the best-equipped venues in the Pickle Island network. The Pannipitiya Road address is easy to find and has solid road access, which matters on a weeknight when you are heading straight from work.
LKR 4,500 per hour is the premium tier among The Pickle Island branches, reflecting the three-court setup and the convenience it offers to the eastern side of the city. Call 077 886 0812 to book.
Pickleball courts in Colombo
Rally Pickle
- Location: No 11, 23B Melder Place, Colombo
- Price: LKR 4,000 per hour
- Hours: Daily until 10 PM
- Rating: 5.0 stars (57 reviews)
- Best for: Competitive players, regular bookings, consistent quality

Rally Pickle has the most convincing track record of any pickleball venue in Colombo. A 5.0 rating across 57 reviews is not a fluke. That review count is higher than almost every other pickleball court in Sri Lanka, which means the rating has been genuinely tested over time and holds up.
The Melder Place location keeps it in a quieter part of the city, which is not a disadvantage. Courts in lower-traffic areas tend to stay in better condition, and the crowd at Rally Pickle leans toward players who are there to play properly rather than just socialize. Pricing is straightforward at LKR 4,000 per hour.

- Hours: Daily until 10 PM
- Rating: 4.9 stars (25 reviews)
- Best for: Premium experience, Colombo 07 area

Torrington Avenue is one of the better addresses in Colombo, and Colombo Pickle Club fits that setting. A 4.9-star rating across 25 reviews puts it just behind Rally Pickle in terms of consistency, and the LKR 4,500 per hour price positions it as a venue focused on quality over budget appeal.
If you are based in the Colombo 07 area or work nearby, this is likely the most convenient high-quality option you have. The Torrington Avenue stretch has good road connections and decent parking access, and the venue itself has built a loyal regular crowd since opening.

Air Sports Club
- Location: 666/7 Cotta Road, Rajagiriya
- Price: Contact for pricing
- Courts: 10 dedicated pickleball courts
- Status: New venue
- Best for: Serious players, group bookings, tournament-scale capacity

Air Sports Club deserves attention for one number alone: ten dedicated pickleball courts in a single facility. No other venue in Sri Lanka comes close. This is the kind of infrastructure designed for tournaments, structured coaching programs, and high-volume bookings where multiple groups need simultaneous court time.
As a new venue, it is still building a review history, and pricing is best confirmed by calling directly. But if you are planning an organized event, running a coaching session, or simply want the highest chance of guaranteed availability in Rajagiriya, Air Sports Club is the only realistic option in the country at this scale.

- Price: LKR 4,000 per hour
- Hours: Daily until 4 AM
- Rating: 4.8 stars
- Best for: Late-night sessions, spacious court experience

The 4 AM closing time is what most people notice first about Picklebee by 71, and rightly so. For shift workers, people with packed daytime schedules, or anyone who simply prefers playing when the city has cooled down, this is the most practical option in Colombo. No other venue in the city stays open anywhere near this late.
Beyond the hours, Picklebee carries the claim of being the most spacious pickleball venue in Sri Lanka, which adds to the appeal. More space means better sightlines, easier movement around the court, and a generally more comfortable experience. The 4.8-star rating backs that up. At LKR 4,000 per hour, the pricing is fair for what you get.

It attracts a lot of first-timers and casual players looking for a low-pressure game after work rather than a serious competitive session. How to book a pickleball court in Sri Lanka
Most pickleball venues in Sri Lanka operate on a flexible booking model. You can call ahead to reserve a specific time, walk in if a court is free, or use PlayBook, which is available on both the App Store and Google Play. PlayBook lets you check availability and confirm bookings without needing to call.
For popular time slots, particularly weekend evenings and post-work hours on weekdays, calling ahead or using PlayBook is recommended. Venues with higher court counts, like Air Sports Club (10 courts) or Misfits Arena (24 hours), have more reliable walk-in availability. For smaller one-court or two-court venues, booking a day in advance is a good habit, especially on weekends.
Every venue on this list provides rackets and balls as part of the court hire. You do not need any equipment to show up and play.

A note on Sri Lanka's first pickleball court
Pipinya Pickleball (Original) · 670 Galle Road
Permanently closed

Before any of the venues above existed, there was one. Pipinya Pickleball at 670 Galle Road opened in January 2024 as Sri Lanka's first dedicated pickleball club. It is now permanently closed, but it is worth acknowledging. Every sport has a starting point, and this was Sri Lanka's. The community and the brand that grew out of that original location lives on through the Negombo venue.
